In the past, dental restorations such as crowns required at least two visits to the dentist’s office. The first is to take an impression of your teeth, and the second—several days later, after the crown is made—to affix the crown in your mouth.
Thankfully, we live in a modern age where technological advancements have made the dentist’s job easier and your wait period shorter. With CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics), now we can produce perfect porcelain restorations within minutes and reduce your time at the dental office to one visit!

What Is a Dental Crown?
A crown is a tooth-shaped cap made to look like your natural tooth. It is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, and strength. It gives protection to a weakened or damaged tooth and keeps it from breaking. It can also hold together a cracked tooth, or lend size to a tooth that has been severely worn down.
How Same Day Crowns Happen
Making your new crown is a miracle that meshes technology with artistry. First, the damaged tooth is prepped. This may require a deep cleaning with scaling and root planing if there is an abundance of plaque and tartar deposits below the gum line.
Once the stubborn deposits are removed and root surfaces smoothed, the tooth is shaped and coated with a special reflective powder. Next, a digital 3D picture is taken, and the new crown is designed using very precise digital data.
Once the digital data is received, a block of ceramic, colored to look like your natural tooth, is milled with precision for a perfect, custom-made fit. The crown is then cemented to your tooth on the same day!
